It is hard to believe just how much we need to travel just to get regular work done in our daily lives. There is the commute from home to jobs, taking the kids to school, shopping for items such as organic diapers, and of course we can't leave out entertainment. We probably spend half of our lives just getting somewhere, and when you live in any city you want to find out what your options are for getting from point A to point B. Here is a look at what is available to people who live in a Riverside zip code.

First and foremost, of course, are the routes which provide access to personal transportation. The car revolutionized America almost a century ago. It redefined our lifestyles, redrew our maps, and led to a little innovation called the Road. Today, roads crisscross the nation, some much better than others. We use them to get to our favorite spots for buying garden tools and for many other transportation purposes.

Unfortunately, the roads in Riverside are not a very friendly option for those looking to get from one spot to another. It seems as though the city is always putting in new crimp terminals at some point or another along the roads in the city, from the freeways to side streets. The result is that the city has a bad reputation nationally for congestion, in fact it is always on the list of most congested cities in the nation.

Fortunately there are alternatives available in Riverside, although from the continued look of the roadways not many people are taking them. The best alternatives are probably the rail lines, although the main advantage of these is to get you out of the city. Still, you can get to one station from another in order to get to a post card printing company on the other side of town, or to get into Los Angeles.

There are public bus lines running in Riverside, but the entire county has been reluctant to embrace this mode of transportation, for reasons unknown. Less commuter demand has meant that Greyhound and other companies operating the bus lines provide fairly limited service, which of course only contributes to the reluctance of commuters to avail themselves of the services. There are plans, however, to increase the service in some areas of the city, particularly around the university, over the next two to three years. And of course, you can always hop on a bus to enjoy a day in Mexico.

Finally, if you have a lot of extra money, you can use the small Riverside Municipal Airport to get out of town for a few days. It's mostly business class and private operators who avail themselves of the beautiful planes with their non-welded fittings, while most of the population will take the train into LAX for their flight needs.
